Welcome and FAQ'S
You got questions? We got answers!
|
1. What is an impcast? It stands for information, music and podcasts, which is what we bring you in one
spot on the web. And your hosts are little imps!
2. Is this like your radio show? Yes, except there is no radio involved. We post our show on our website
in three segments each weekday. From our website, you can simply click the links to listen. To find out if
there are new segments to hear, just refresh your screen periodically, or you can subscribe to our podcasts.
3. What is a podcast? It's basically just an audio feed someone puts online for other people to hear. In our
case, it's show segments and comedy bits.
4. What do you mean by "subscribing" to a podcast? If you subscribe, every time a new segment is
ready, our computer will tell your computer that there is something new for you to hear.
5. How much does it cost to subscribe? Nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch. It's free!
6. Please explain subscriptions! Everyone talks about this, but few explain it in simple terms. It's certainly
not Podcasts for Dummies, it's Podcasts for really smart people who have just never had anyone explain it to
them before. Once you do this, you'll be amazed at how easy it is!
To subscribe If you are familiar with subscription services, check out the numerous options for each of our
feeds. You can start right here by selecting any or all of our three daily feeds: Breakroom Buzz, Craig's Sports
and Sam's Entertainment. Once there, you'll have the option to subscribe to our other feeds.
If you are not familiar with feeds, here's the most common way to subscribe. If you are visiting a page with
feeds, you'll notice toward the top of your screen in your menu bar, there is a little orange button like this:
If there are no feeds, it will be gray, like the one on this page. It only turns orange if it finds feeds.
From our home page, click the little down arrow just to the right of that orange button, and you will see our
three daily podcasts listed. Click the one you want, or if you want all three, start with Breakroom Buzz. After
you're finished, just repeat these steps for the other feeds. When you click Breakroom Buzz, a new window
will open, and you'll see a big yellow header box with a link that says "Subscribe to this feed." Click that, and
a little box will ask you to confirm that you want our feed. Click "subscribe," and your computer will confirm
your subscription. That's it! You're done. You only need to do this once for each feed. We'll automatically
send our feeds to your computer, so you can listen whenever you want.
To find your feeds. From any page on the web, look at the far left side of your screen, near the top - WAY
over to the left edge, and (depending on your version of Internet Explorer) you'll see a yellow star. We want the
plain star, not the star with a green plus sign. Click that star, and a pane will open underneath it showing your
favorite sites. Right next to the "favorites" button, you'll see "feeds" with the orange icon. Click there to open
your feeds, and you should see ours. If there is a new feed you haven't heard yet, it will be in bold print. Most
computers will check for new feeds every 15 minutes. However, sometimes, you'll need to click on those two
little green arrows to the right, and it'll check immediately.
To hear your feeds. If there is something new, click it and our feed page will open. You'll see a list of our
feeds with the newest at the top. Just click on the headline or the mp3, and you're computer will play it!
Now, once you get comfortable with that, here are a few things you may want to explore. Click on that star and
open your feeds. Right-click on one of our feeds, then click on Properties. A box will open with more options.
Click on settings, and you can change how often your computer looks for new feeds. And here's a GREAT
feature. If you want your computer to play a sound when it finds a new feed, you'll see a box you can check to
make it do just that!
Soon you'll be wanting that iPod you've heard so much about. If you've got one, or a similar device, you can let
it grab our podcasts for you, and you can listen whenever you want, wherever you are! We can be found in the
iTunes Store. Any questions - please feel free to email us for help.
